You, Me and A Cup of Tea

Everyone enjoys a nice cup of tea and a sit down – and Pollyanna has been asked to contribute a story about her most memorable cup of tea to a brand new book!

To commemorate their 175th anniversary, Tetley have created the UK’s first ‘tea table’ book titled You, Me and a Cup of Tea, in partnership with the UK’s leading children and young people’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent. The limited edition book is a celebration of the moments people spend together over the nation’s favourite drink and is a unique collection of 175 stories from celebrities and tea drinkers from across the UK, all sharing their heart-warming tales about a special cup of tea.

Pollyanna contributed one of the most unusual anecdotes in the collection, recalling sharing a cup of Yak butter tea with a Buddhist monk in a remote monastery high in the Himalayan mountains of Bhutan whilst on expedition to paint the wildlife of the region. They bonded so well over the drink that the monk took Pollyanna to see a precious holy relic – the scalp of a yeti!

The book was officially launched with an Afternoon Tea (of course!) at the Haymarket Hotel in London last October. The launch was attended by many of the celebrities who contributed their stories including former Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq ( above left with Pollyanna), actress Anne-Marie Wayne, rapper Ashley Walters and actors s James and Oliver Phelps who played twins Fred and George Weasley in the Harry Potter films.
