Toyah picks the Winner

The winning ticket of the 2006 Pollyanna Pickering Foundation grand prize draw was drawn by singer and actress Toyah Willcox (above left with Pollyanna).

Toyah regularly topped the charts as a singer in the eighties, and has gone on to become one of our most popular actresses and TV presenters. She is also a great animal lover, and pleased to support the Foundation’s work. She took time out of her hectic touring schedule to draw the winning tickets.

Mr Collick of Matlock is the lucky winner of Pollyanna’s original painting of a leopard, while the second prize winner Mr Witt of Humboldt in Canada will receive a signed limited edition print. A further ten runners up have also been sent signed prints and other prizes. A full list of winners can be found below.

Between the sales of prize draw tickets, donations, and a percentage of sales donated by Pollyanna from the “Safari of Africa” exhibition, the Foundation has raised £8100.00 for their current campaign.

The money will be used to begin work on building a new enclosure for rescued lions at the Shamwari Wildlife Reserve in South Africa, in conjunction with the Born Free Foundation. Many big cats live in appalling conditions in tiny cages in zoos and circuses around the world, and plans can now be made for their rescue.
