Pollyanna signs The Pledge!

Pollyanna has given her backing to a regional road safety campaign. The Derby Evening Telegraph is asking its readers to sign their pledge, promising to think more carefully when driving.

The official launch saw the pledge being taken by 14 celebrities from the region including Pollyanna, cartoonist Bill Tidy, novelist Wendy Holden, Margaret Beckett MP, and Kelli Young from pop group Liberty.

The campaign has been launched in response to a number of recent tragic deaths on the roads of Derbyshire. The paper is also asking or support for a lasting memorial to those killed and injured in road crashes.

“I sincerely hope that this campaign will reach drivers on our county’s roads” Pollyanna commented “so many lives are needlessly lost each year through fast and dangerous driving – and so much wildlife is also killed and inured on our roads, including endangered species such as barn owls. By taking a little more care as we drive we can make our environment safer for children, animals, and all other road users”.
