Pollyanna Attends Variety Club Awards

As long term supporters of the charity, Pollyanna and her daughter and business partner Anna-Louise were again pleased to be invited to attend the Variety Club ShowBiz Awards – the oldest and most showbiz of awards ceremonies – which took place at London’s Grosvenor Hotel in November, honouring some of Britain’s biggest and most popular names in Showbusiness.

The event, presented by comedian, Justin Lee Collins, was attended by a host of top talent including singer Russell Watson, Jaime Winstone, Katie Price, the cast of The Inbetweeners, Louie Spence, Myleene Klass, Andy Serkis and Ray Winstone.

Pollyanna was especially pleased to have the opportunity to congratulate entertainment icon, Barbara Windsor (above right) who was honoured with Variety Club’s most prestigious award, the Bernard Delfont Award for Outstanding Contribution to Showbusiness. Pollyanna and Barbara are both patrons of the charity F.A.B.L.E. (For a Better Life with Epilepsy).

The award topped off a hugely significant year for Barbara, including her recent explosive exit storyline from EastEnders – and she told Pollyanna that part of the reason behind her decision to leave the long running soap was to free up more time to be able to work with charities like FABLE.

The evening raised funds and awareness for the special work of The Variety Club, including money for specialist minibuses, wheelchairs, sports equipment, hospital wards, and all sorts of other practical solutions that enable individuals, projects and organisations across the UK to give a wider range of opportunities to the children in their care.
