Paul O’Grady Picks the Winner

The winning ticket in the Pollyanna Pickering Foundation 2014 Winter Prize draw has been drawn by comedy legend Paul O’Grady MBE. The lucky winner, Mrs Greaves of Leicestershire has won an original painting of Garden Birds.

One of the biggest names in TV entertainment, Paul O’Grady is television presenter, actor, writer and radio DJ. Achieving fame for his drag queen comedic alter ego, Lily Savage, he subsequently became well known for presenting the daytime chat television series, The Paul O’Grady Show. Since September 2012, O’Grady has presented the ITV documentary series For the Love of Dogs, covering life at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. Although scheduled to initially film at the centre for six days, he stayed as a volunteer for six months!

Pollyanna shares his love for animals and was delighted that Paul was willing to spare time from his very busy schedule to help her select the winners in the prize draw organised by her charitable foundation.

“We were so pleased that Paul agreed to draw the winning tickets” Pollyanna told us “His genuine love of animals shines through and we thank him so much for his support”.

Between the sales of prize draw tickets, donations and a percentage of sales from Pollyanna’s winter exhibition the Foundation has raised £5250.00 which will be used to fund the retraining of Chinese workers from bear bile farms to become certified animal carers in a new sanctuary for animals rescued from this unspeakably cruel trade, as well as in part to fund the ongoing care of Polly Bear.
