To bring you her latest exhibition, Pollyanna braved extremes of heat and humidity, plagues of mosquitoes and rivers infested by crocodiles and piranhas!

Pollyanna is renowned as an artist-traveller. Her determination to paint only animals which she has observed in their natural habitats has lead her into a remarkable and unique series of expeditions into some of the most inhospitable areas of the globe.  She is proud to present an exhibition of paintings inspired by her most recent journeys into the little known Pantanal region of Brazil.   Extending from the Amazon, the Pantanal is the world’s largest tropical wetland. Pollyanna travelled to this wild and remote region via bone-jangling drives along dirt tracks – following thirty-six hours of gruelling flights from China, where she had been acting as an official international delegate at the first Artists for Conservation Wildlife festival!

In Brazil she navigated a network of waterways through the gigantic floodplain which stretches across two Brazilian states and parts of neighbouring Bolivia and Paraguay.  From her small boat she was able to observe and sketch a wealth of rainforest wildlife – and was rewarded with over twenty sightings of the beautiful and powerful jaguar, the largest of South America’s big cats.  In this region jaguars can frequently be seen swimming in the rivers – and Pollyanna witnessed a heart stoppingly dramatic kill when a huge male jaguar stalked and wrestled an 2.5m long caiman just a few metres from her boat.  Pollyanna also spent several hours watching a female jaguar with a cub, and was able to sketch a wealth of other wildlife which can be found in the region – from giant river otters and other jungle cats, to the glorious bird life – including hyacinth macaws. Pollyanna will be in her gallery throughout the exhibition and will be happy to chat to visitors about her artwork, and the inspiration found on her expedition.
