Talk: Here be Dragons…..

Venue : Nottingham : St Leonard’s Community Centre, Bramcote Lane, Wollaton, Nottingham (opposite Wollaton library)

Details : Pollyanna is often asked if she ever faces any dangerous situations while on her working expeditions – and on this most recent journey she came face to face with one of the most potentially dangerous creatures she has ever studied – armed only with a stick! Whilst in Indonesia Pollyanna visited several islands which are home to the legendary komodo dragons. She trekked in temperatures which reached 43ºC in order to come face to face with – and make sketches of – the world’s largest and most dangerous venomous lizards in their natural habitat.

Join her as she returns once again by popular demand to the Wollaton Natural History Society to present her brand new talk about her most recent expedition into Indonesia.

Pollyanna also trekked into the forests of Borneo to visit rehabilitation centres where many of the orang-utans who have been released back in to the wild visit feeding platforms for meals of milk and bananas. There is nowhere else in the world you can see so many wild orangutans in their natural home – and Pollyanna made the most of this opportunity to fill her sketch folders.  She will of course also share these sketches and the paintings which they inspired throughout the talk.

Visitor tickets £6 each available on the door, or by booking in advance from: the WNHS Secretary 0115 9286289 or       0115 9283679.
